About the film

Story

All Clean is a lighthearted drama unfolding during the early days of our economic recession.

An office cleaner releases five employees, who have been locked accidentally in a meeting room overnight, after having discussed company redundancies. A house cleaner witnesses a family disagreement on how much bullying one can tolerate in the workplace, in times of threatening unemployment.

The two cleaners observe these situations from their peripheral position and keep a much more relaxed attitude towards the whole anxiety of our times.

The improvisation process

This film's story was devised from scratch and based on a series of improvisation sessions.

The process was liberating, helping everyone feel at ease with the group. After weeks of work together, nobody felt the anxiety to "prove" something by acting. As a consequence, the performances were more relaxed and natural. And the whole process had a lot of fun.

Initially, we improvised scenes without forcing them to fit into an overall story concept. Each actor had the opportunity to try various characters. In this way, we created a pool of characters and situations, some of which actually ended up in the final film.

Eventually, as the story started to form, we continued improvising to get the backstories right. It was a process of going back and forth between acting and writing.

In the journal page you can find videos of this process.
